Greetings All,
The fishing was EXCELLENT. This time of the year the fishing is about as good as it gets.
We started out on the Vermillion and Silver Snapper. By the time to sun came up, we were done and had our limit all the way around the boat.
Off to the deep blue yonder we went in search of creatures of the deep….
….and we found them!

Greetings All,
We had a great Day trip Saturday day and after a few hours rest we left the dock at midnight for 18 hours of PURE fishing fun! The Ocean was flat as a pancake and the fish were HUNGRY!
So off we went with our friends from New York!

1st Stop….It was ON! Gang Busters all the way around the boat as hard as we could go!
We hit our limit on Bee Liners in one stop!
Pretty Stuff too!
So now that we had our Bee’s we headed off to DEEP BLUE to chase some Beasts of the Deep! My favorite….Big Red Grouper…

We spent a good part of the day in the deep….and were rewarded with 14 Grouper Total including 3 over 20 lbs
Time was starting to run short so we moved back inshore and went to work on the Big Blue Headed Seabass!

Only 1 Mahi on the day….They should be showing up any ol’time now! The bite is one and the fishing will only get Better over the next few weeks.
Here are a few more pics….

Greetings All,
We had a great trip Saturday 5-22-10. The weather was excellent but the morning fishing was S-L-O-W. I could not buy a fish at the supermarket. We would move and drop…nothing, move and drop….nothing. I was sweating it. Then about 12:30-1:00pm….you would have thought the dinner bell rang and it was GANG BUSTERS! 2 at a time as hard as we could go. The next 2 hours saved the day. The trip turned out to be pretty dog gone good!

Nice Groupers

The COBIAs have started to show up too….

Pretty Bee Liners

All in All a great trip and a pretty Ocean. We were due for a nice weekend….

Greetings All,
We had a day trip on Saturday 5-8-10 but the weather was just plain Ol’Crappy so we scrapped it and went with the Overnight trip on Saturday night instead.
ReefCast ( http://fryingpantower.com/North_Carolina_Offshore_Weather_Forecast.html ) My very own weather forcasting system called the weather window to a TEE!
All day Sat we had 20 kts out of the South West….RC said 10:00pm’ish the wind would come around to the North. ReefCast said around noon the next day the wind would fall out to nothing…..
We postponed leaving the dock until midnight Saturday night and were meet with 20 knot winds out of the North. The sea on our stern off we went.
First stop of the morning was all Pinkies. Pinkies to the left….Pinkies to the right!
About time the sun came up and the fishing turned on.

About 11:00am the wind started dropping….and the fishing got better….

By 1:00 pm the wind had fallen completely out and the fishing turned HOTT!

As the day wore on the Big Blueheaded Seabass came to visit and we even came up with a Queen Trigger.

Check out Sunset….It was Lake Atlantic….

All in all….Limit of Pinkies….Most had a limit of Bee liners….7 Grouper and a ton of triggers and Big Ol’Bass!
My first overnight trip of the season was quite the success.

We havea Day trip next Saturday and another Overnighter the 29th.

Greetings All,
We had a great weekend on the water. The weather was decent for the most part. Little bouncy in the afternoon but overall pretty decent.
Saturday we had a Day trip with my friends from Pa.!
The fishing WAS HOTT!
We had a mess of Grouper, we limited on Vermillion Snapper, Silver Snapper and came real close to our limit in GIANT Blueheaded Seabass.

It was one of those days were the fish were chewing the bottom out of the boat. I was very pleased.
Sunday….
OOOhhhhhhhhhh what a differance a day makes. We were in the same area as Saturday, doing the same things and just about could not buy a fish at the fish market. We scraped together a catch but we had to work for each and every one. The vermillion never did really bite. There were some decent catches but overall it was a hard day on the water.

Looks like we have a decent weekend coming next weekend and we have our 1st 24 hour overnight trip of the year. I am really looking forward to it. It will be time to HUNT some of those fat Red Groupers I have been dreaming of.
Lets go kill something!

Greetings All,
We started the season with a BANG…too bad it was the wrong kind. We had a day trip Saturday. The boat was slam full….and it was blowing it’s butter bean off! 20-25 knots. The fishing stunk. The weather was nasty and the catch showed it. In seas that big it is hard to hit what spots. Getting the anchor to hold is all but impossible and even when we are on the fish the angler can not hold bottom and can not “Feel” the bite. It just made for a tough day all the way around. We caught a mess of Triggerfish and some Silver Snappers. The water was still real cold. I did not take a single picture.
Hopefully we will have it better next weekend.
Till Then!

I got an E-Mail today asking what all this was about. It would be a TON to type out all this so I am going to supply some links for your reading pleasure.
First this is an article that appeared in a Washington paper and is the most complete of the ones I have seen (Not because I am in it) but I thought this guy did a good job on the subject.

Here is one that appeared on EPSN recently

Also there is an entire forum about what is going on in the fishery with the current administration.

It is not just us here in NC. The problems we are seeing is from Maine to Washington State. We as fishermen are under attack from the left wing wacko’s and from the folks that are running NOAA and NMF.
